Kaizen
The concept of Kaizen is a concept that helps with internal business processes in order to continuously improve the efficiency and productivity of a particular business model.
The word/philosophy roughly translates to continuous change for the better, or continuous never ending improvement.
It was puzzling to me that such a great concept only applied to a non living idea and wasn’t tied to the idea of humans on their quest for fulfillment and success. The philosophy creates such a calm way to approach the day to day process of completion. If this simple idea is understood and harnessed, I saw no reason why we wouldn’t apply it to our personal living habits and lifetime goals.
Many of my mentors and role models spoke of the same process and mentality that is widely used to achieve greatness and instill motivation, but no one ever had a word or process for instilling the idea concretely into the personal growth process.
Kaizen is the idea that we create and continuously work on daily habits in which we want the foundation of our lifestyles to be built on. We work consistently to create the habit we want to include in who we are, and then when it becomes habit, we subconsciously push ourselves to improve ever so slightly overtime.
The amount of work you put in will dictate your level of improvement and understanding, but the concept is there to relieve the anxiety and stress of expecting too much too soon. If we choose to remain with discipline and consistency, we undoubtably will improve at whatever skill or craft we are looking to improve upon.
Building a brick wall:
To build a wall, you must start with a single brick. How you spend time laying each brick will dictate how well the wall is built and how it looks and holds up. If you focus on how you place each brick and carefully lay it out one at a time, you do not need to think about any past or future bricks. You can only focus on laying one brick at a time. With practice, not only will you get better and better at laying each brick over time, but pretty soon, you will have completed the brick wall in which you were trying to complete. Life goals work the same way.
